How can we help?

A Mac with Apple silicon (M1 or later) and macOS 13 or later. On macOS versions before 26, a speech model downloads once from Preferences.

1. Download AURIS from the download page.
2. Open the file and move AURIS to your Applications folder.
3. Open AURIS. Its icon appears in the menu bar, at the top of the screen.

Three, all in System Settings › Privacy & Security:

• Microphone: to hear you while you hold the key.
• Accessibility: to type the text at your cursor. Without it, the text goes to your clipboard.
• Input Monitoring: to notice your shortcut in any app.

AURIS checks them each time it needs them and tells you clearly if one is missing.

1. Click in a text field, for example a new note in Notes.
2. Hold the right ⌥ key and speak.
3. Let go: the text appears at your cursor.

You get the full app for 15 days, with no account and no card. From the tenth day, a discreet counter shows the days left. After the trial, AURIS reminds you for a few days, then asks for a license to keep dictating.

Click the AURIS icon in the menu bar, open Preferences, then the Shortcuts tab. You can set one shortcut for “Hold to talk” and another for “Hands-free”, and restore the recommended ones at any time.

Press right ⌥ and right ⌘ together to start, speak, then press them again to stop. You don't need to hold anything in between.

Up to 10 minutes. At 10 minutes, AURIS stops the recording and writes the text.

AURIS types wherever your cursor is: apps, web pages, code editors, and terminals such as Terminal and iTerm2. If Accessibility is not allowed, the text is placed on your clipboard: press ⌘V to paste it.

In Preferences › History. AURIS keeps your last 20 dictations, on your Mac only, so you can copy them again. You can turn history off in the same tab.

When AURIS opens again, it offers to transcribe the interrupted recording, to discard it, or to decide later. The same choice stays available from the AURIS menu until you decide.

It adds capital letters and a final period, fixes spacing around punctuation, and removes repeated words and hesitations such as “um” and “uh” (in English, French and Italian). It does not rewrite your sentences.

An optional, deeper cleanup, off by default. Turn it on in Preferences › Advanced. It also runs on your Mac: Apple's on-device model where available, otherwise a local model you download from the same tab. You can pick a style: Standard, Email, Message, Code or Notes. If its result strays too far from what you said, AURIS keeps your words.

1. Open Preferences › Glossary.
2. Type the correct word, for example a client's name.
3. Add the variants dictation tends to hear instead, then click “Add to glossary”.

AURIS then writes the correct word. The glossary stays on your Mac and does not change on its own.

We have tested eight: English, French, Italian, Spanish, German, Portuguese (Brazil), Dutch and Polish. Other languages appear in the list, but we have not tested them, so results may vary.

In Preferences › General, choose the transcription language. The language of the AURIS interface is set in the same tab.

On macOS 26 and later, Apple's speech engine. On earlier versions, and always for Dutch and Polish, Whisper, which runs on your Mac. You can force one or the other in Preferences › Advanced.

In Preferences › Models, click Download next to the model you want. The download comes from huggingface.co and happens only when you click. Models range from about 75 MB to about 3 GB: larger ones are more accurate but slower.

No. Dictation opens no network connection. The four connections AURIS can make, all started by you, are listed on our trust page, with how to check it yourself.

Yes. Once AURIS is installed, and any model it needs is downloaded, dictation works the same with Wi-Fi off.

The recording is deleted as soon as the text is written. If something fails, it is kept for 5 minutes so you can recover it; after a crash, until you choose what to do with it.

Open Preferences › License, paste the key you received by email, and click Activate. This makes one connection to our license server; after that, AURIS no longer needs the network.

Up to 3 devices, for one person. To move to a new Mac, deactivate the license on the old one (Preferences › License › Deactivate this license), then activate it on the new one.

Yes. Paddle, our authorized reseller, issues it. Enter your company name and VAT number at checkout.

In Preferences › General, click “Check for updates”. Opening that tab also checks. The automatic check is off by default; if you turn it on, it runs at most once a day. Nothing is installed without your confirmation. What changed: changelog.

1. Check that AURIS is open: its icon should be in the menu bar.
2. In System Settings › Privacy & Security, check that AURIS is allowed under Input Monitoring and Microphone.
3. In Preferences › Shortcuts, check which shortcut is set, or restore the recommended ones.

AURIS does not have the Accessibility permission. Allow it in System Settings › Privacy & Security › Accessibility. Until then, press ⌘V to paste.

AURIS types where the cursor is when you let go. Click in the right field before you start, and avoid switching windows while you dictate. Your text is also in Preferences › History.

Check that the transcription language matches the language you speak (Preferences › General). For names and jargon, add them to the glossary with the variants AURIS hears. Speaking a little closer to the microphone also helps.

Quit AURIS from its menu in the menu bar, then move it from Applications to the Trash.
