License agreement

This agreement is between you and DBM Strategy LLC, the publisher of AURIS. By installing, activating or using AURIS, you accept it. If you do not accept it, do not use AURIS; if you bought a license, you can get a refund within 14 days (refund policy).

1. What you may do

• Install and use AURIS on up to 3 devices that you use, for your private or professional needs.
• The license is personal: it is granted to one person, not to a company or a team. A firm buys one license per person.
• It is perpetual for the major version you bought (for example 1.x) and for every update of that version.
• An education license is for study and teaching only.

2. Free trial

For 15 days, you may use AURIS with all its features in order to evaluate it. After that, a license is needed to keep dictating.

3. What you may not do

• Share your license key, or use it for more people or devices than the license allows.
• Sell, rent, lend or sublicense AURIS or your license. A transfer to another person is possible once a year through our support.
• Bypass, disable or tamper with the license checks.
• Decompile, disassemble or reverse engineer AURIS, except where the law allows it despite this clause.
• Remove copyright or license notices.

4. Activation and network

Activating a license requires one connection to our license server per device. It sends your key, the email used for the purchase, a fingerprint of the device that does not reveal its hardware identifier, and the word “Mac”. There is no periodic online check afterwards: the license works offline. You can free a device from AURIS › Preferences › License; the app then sends our server the license certificate stored on the device. The three other connections AURIS can make (model downloads and update checks) are listed in the privacy policy.

5. Updates and new versions

• Fixes and security updates for your major version are free.
• Updates are downloaded from our website, aurisformac.com. Nothing is installed without your confirmation.
• A new major version is optional and sold separately, at a reduced price for existing customers. Your version keeps working: we do not disable it.
• We cannot guarantee that an older version will keep working with future versions of macOS.

6. Your content

What you dictate and the texts AURIS produces belong to you. They are processed on your device; we have no access to them.

7. Third-party components

AURIS includes or uses third-party components under their own licenses, notably whisper.cpp, ggml and llama.cpp (MIT license), Whisper speech models (MIT license), Qwen language models (license specific to each model), and speech and language features provided by macOS. Their licenses apply to those components. Whisper and Qwen models are not included in the application: you download them from Hugging Face, and each remains subject to its publisher’s license.

8. Ownership

AURIS is licensed, not sold. DBM Strategy LLC and its licensors keep all rights in the software that are not expressly granted to you.

9. Accuracy and responsibility

Speech recognition and automatic cleanup can make mistakes. Review your text before using it, especially in professional, legal or medical contexts. You remain responsible for the texts you send or publish.

10. Warranty and liability

If you are a consumer, you keep all your statutory rights, including the legal guarantee of conformity of digital content in the European Union; nothing in this agreement limits them. Apart from those rights and to the extent permitted by law, AURIS is provided without any other warranty, and our total liability is limited to the amount you paid for the license. This limit does not apply to liability that the law does not allow to be limited.

11. End of the license

The license ends if you are refunded, if a payment dispute is decided against you, or if you seriously breach this agreement. You must then stop using AURIS under that license and delete it. Sections 6 to 10 remain in force.

12. Applicable law

This agreement is governed by the laws of the State of Delaware (United States). If you are a consumer, this choice does not deprive you of the protection of the mandatory rules of the law of your country of residence.

AURIS 1: standard price $99; founder offer $69 for the first 300 paid founder memberships. This is a licence purchase, not a subscription. All launch offers cover AURIS 1 only.

AURIS 2 is an optional paid upgrade: €49 / US$49 for AURIS 1 owners, including founders and contributors. AURIS 1 remains usable without upgrading. At least one year between paid major releases; no release date or annual schedule is promised. Protection for recent purchases remains applicable.
